Ah yes... pulled from am random "pulp hero name generator" by my teacher last year.
Technically it was a character design, but I decided it would be cool if part of the "hero" was the vehicle he used, specifically a type of transformable submarine-mech.
This is great, you should enter our comic book cover competition. The winner gets their design on the front cover of our studio's comic based on the game. Watch our page to find out the details.
I don't think I've ever seen you tackle character design before. So this was for the action hero name generator? I don't think I ever saw this before. Wouldn't mind doing this project again sometime.
I love the oversized mustache and shoulderpads, it has a very video game character, and I think I see a smidgen of steampunk coming through as well.
Yay! Yeah, I had a lot of fun with this one. I think you didn't see it because I was late to the class where we had the critique, so I swung by his office to turn it in later on. Wish I would've gotten your opinion on it sooner though.
I had fun with the mustache, but I still think the character came out a little "stiff" somehow. I can't seem to shake that problem in my characters.
Yeah, I kind of figure that was the case. I had similar feelings about stiffness in my own character of Dex Deadfall: Astronaut Archeologist (hence the wanting to try it again) though I can only how stiff the first choice Groff gave me might have been: Rex Wolfram: Computer Accountant!
Practice makes perfect when it comes to loosen up characters and this project in particular was very rushed so I wouldn't beat yourself up about it.
Siren is a good name for marine based stuff.
